Rangiroa

Rangiroa, the giant of atolls: an unlimited underwater universe and otherworldly motus.

Rangiroa, whose name means “immense sky,” is the second largest atoll in the world. Located just a one-hour flight from Tahiti, in the Tuamotu archipelago, this colossal coral ring encloses a lagoon so vast it feels like an inland sea. Here, the feeling of infinity is constant: endless horizons, uninhabited motus, majestic silence… Rangiroa is a refuge for those seeking to reconnect with the essentials in a timeless environment. Known as one of the best diving destinations in all of French Polynesia, Rangiroa offers total immersion in the vast oceanic expanse. But beyond its legendary waters, it also surprises with the richness of its terrestrial landscapes, secret lagoons, and contrasts between wildness and refinement.

Access: Direct flights from Tahiti (1 hour) or from Tikehau and Fakarava (20 minutes).

Essential activities :

  • Diving with wild dolphins: At the Tiputa Pass, dives are legendary. Swim alongside pods of wild dolphins, grey sharks, and during the season (January to March), even hammerhead sharks. Private trips ensure a safe, guided, and absolutely unforgettable experience.

  • Exclusive exploration of secret motus: Rangiroa hides little-known natural wonders accessible only by private boat:

    • The Reef Island, where coral rises above the water in shapes sculpted by time.

    • The Blue Lagoon, a lagoon within the lagoon, where the water reaches unreal turquoise shades.

    • The Green Lagoon, surrounded by lush vegetation, perfect for a picnic in complete privacy.

  • Snorkeling in exclusively accessed coral gardens: Visit less frequented spots with expert guides to discover tropical fish, turtles, and rays in a pristine environment.

Recommended accommodation :

  • Hotel Kia Ora Resort & Spa — the most exclusive address on the atoll, featuring overwater bungalows, private villas with pools, and bespoke service.
